This project focuses primarily on upgrades to the food service and commons area of Jones Residence Hall. The renovated food court, known as the “Galley” to students, offers several venues and a new coffee shop along with a variety of inviting seating options. The entire commons area is redesigned with an overall rustic feel that provides students with plenty of space to dine, study, or collaborate in a comfortable, contemporary environment made for gathering and eating.
Features designed by Stanford White include specialized HVAC and electrical for food service, plus power, lighting, and fire alarm for the project area. New fire alarm panel and integration with old system also provided, along with expansion of domestic water and sanitary waste, air handling, and heat transfer systems. In addition, provisions are incorporated into the electrical design to permit continued use of the galley for limited food preparation and serving in the event of power loss.
