While working as a tenant representative for a build-to-suit project for Paradigm Genetics, the design team was commissioned to design an off-site plant research facility.  This facility needed to be completed quickly and inexpensively to allow full-scale operation to begin on several pending research contracts.  Although this facility was originally intended to be temporary, the Miami Boulevard site became the showplace of Paradigm’s research techniques and a model for Paradigm’s new headquarters and future plant growth facilities.  Because of the need for this facility to be stand alone, it includes plant growth rooms, growth chambers, a plant analysis laboratory and all of the additional facilities needed to support these including soil preparation, media preparation, cell culture and microscopy labs.  A flexible engineering infrastructure was created whereby lab work stations can be easily relocated and “plugged-in” to allow for minimal downtime.
