This science facility is the first of 12 planned buildings at the 75 acre Gateway University Research Park – South Campus, a joint research venture between NC A&T State University and UNC Greensboro created to provide world-class laboratories and office space to businesses, universities and the local community.  Designed and constructed in phases, the shell package was later fit-up for three research tenants: United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Data Research Center, Advaero, and the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering.  The USDA space includes IT support rooms and a large data storage area served by a dry agent fire protection system.  The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering and Advaero tenant areas include labs and other support spaces.

Stanford White provided mechanical and electrical engineering including a central boiler and chiller plant system to serve future Gateway University Research Park facilities.
