    Entire 692 Acre Campus

Located in the mountains of western North Carolina, WCU was founded in 1889 and now serves over 10,000 students annually as part of the University of North Carolina system. WCU is strong in both cultural and scientific curriculums. The campus has 54 buildings totaling 3M SF. 6 buildings were constructed in the 1930’s. The master planning process included an assessment of existing conditions of buildings, as well as utilities. Plans for future campus growth 20 years and beyond were evaluated. Engineering recommendations were offered to complement this growth, particularly infrastructure needs including: boiler plants, chiller plants, steam distribution, chilled water distribution, natural gas, primary power, telecommunications and site lighting. Sustainability principals were also identified and applied as part of the master plan.
